UDATE: FUTA, BSB BEGIN PRODUCTION OF SPECIAL BREAD

The Centre for Research and Development (CERAD) of the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA and the Real Margue Company Nigeria Limited owners of BSB Bakery have started the production of Turmeric and Ginger bread containing a special secret formula developed by FUTA researchers and patented by CERAD. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape during the presentation of the Bread on 9th May, 2019 described it as a success story and a plus for University – Industry linkage. He said in the form Turmeric and Ginger has been presented, more people would enjoy their health benefit. He appealed to BSB & CERAD to give the Ginger and Turmeric Bread adequate publicity and market it beyond Akure.

Turmeric and Ginger are known to have the health benefits of lowering the risk of heart diseases, prevention and treatment of cancer, treatment of respiratory tract diseases, delaying of aging and fighting age related diseases. CERAD and BSB Bakers will publicize Turmeric and ginger bread by their joint name and promote the merchantability of the brand.

The Director, CERAD, Professor Ganiyu Oboh said CERAD is keying into the vision of the Institution through excellent service delivery and the Product development initiative of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape by providing products that will be of immense benefit to individuals who are battling various health challenges. Mr. Olatunde Oladimeji of BSB Bakery expressed gratitude to FUTA for making the special formula available to his Company saying that the Ginger and Turmeric bread has a lot of nutritional and health benefits. He said his Company was looking forward to more product development from FUTA.238
