DATA SCIENCE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Data Science is one of the new big things, do you have what it takes?

OVERVIEW
The Data Incubator Fellowship Program is an 8-week intensive full-time boot camp for those with STEM degrees, passionate about data, and looking to take over the business world.

Selected participants will work closely with our expert instructors and fellow students to master relevant skills to help launch their career in data science.

There would be no theory. The program includes several projects that would showcase the world-class data science capabilities of participants. Also, these projects would be on applying data to solve real-world business problems.

Asides the training, participants will work on capstone projects which would be creating a functioning tool for a public data set of interest to show off to future employers.

Below is a list of the exciting capstone projects from past graduates:

• A website that finds a suitable movie for date nights
• A tool that helps predict where to grow the best crops using NASA climate prediction data
• A tool that knows spam reviews on Amazon
• A website that employs Google Trends to forecast stock prices.

BENEFITS
The program won’t only be giving participants the necessary tools to succeed in the business world but also help with finding their first data science role. Within six(6) months of completing the program, 82% of the participants will be absorbed into the workforce in a variety of industries: AI, Energy, Finance/Fintech, Healthcare, Law, Marketing, Advertising, Retail, Software, and Technology among others.

Participants will work with a career coach to craft the perfect resume and hone their interview skills so they can excel in front of potential employers. They would also get to meet and mingle with the hiring partners at mixer events, held during each cohort.

The data science instructors would work side-by-side with participants to help build the necessary skill set to succeed. Instructors are sourced from MIT, Harvard, Stanford, and other esteemed educational institutions, and have worked at world-class organizations.

THE APPLICATION PROCESS
The application process is in three parts:

The General Application:
Applicants would answer questions on education and work experience;
Preferences are placed on cohort Location: Washington DC, San Francisco, New York, online. Other details to determine if you meet the basic qualifications for the program.

You must have at least one of the following:
– A Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of relevant working experience
– A Master’s degree
– A PhD degree
– A PhD degree to be completed, three(3) months preceding the conclusion of this program

Application dates for the next cohort:
Early decision application deadline: 2020-10-09
Regular application deadline: 2020-11-06

PS: Early applications are strongly advised as such will be reviewed first

The Coding Challenge
This challenge is to show off your current abilities. After starting, you’ll get 72 hours to complete the challenge. You may have more time to schedule your challenge given you applied early.

Keep in mind that you don’t have to finish all of the challenges, but you need to cover as much as you can. Quality and quantity are both considered. You can always continue your work anytime during the time the challenge is open but do ensure you save as you go as the last saved time is the version that would be considered;

You would be asked to propose your capstone project and give an overview, however there would be time to solidify your capstone idea before the interview.

The Interview
After the coding challenge, the most promising applicants would be contacted to set up a time for an online interview with the instructors and staff.

The most promising during the entire application process would be awarded one of our limited tuition-free spots. You’d be required to disclose and discuss the capstone project you have in mind, and why you think you’re the right candidate for the program.
