OVERVIEW
The Structured Master’s Program for AIMS runs for a period of three semesters. The skills required for the phase of the AIMS course which makes up the essential standard measured set of problem-solving skills include the ability to make quick rough calculations, computation, approximation, modelling, data analysis and statistics. The elective review stage gives room for the students to apply for these various skills in some of the most interesting areas of science.
At the final stage of the AIMS course, the students would be required to do a research project and write a scientific report under the supervision of an expert on research on a topic of their choice. Research initiated in these projects often progresses into further postgraduate research work even after they finish their course in.
OBJECTIVES
Classes would be taught by well known both African and international teachers and would be supported by a group of resident tutors.
Students and teachers cohabitate in a permanent learning environment.
It would allow for a highly interactive teaching environment where students would be encouraged to learn together through the series of questions and possibly new discoveries. Also there would be an emphasis on computing that is the ability to collate datas calculatively with a 24-hour access to computer rooms and the internet. There would also be a Pan-African student body made up of at least 30% women.
AIMS graduates should also be able to embark on outstanding graduate programs and professional careers in Africa and around the world.

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must have or expect to obtain by the date of commencement of AIMS training a 4-year university degree in mathematics or any other science/engineering discipline with a significant number of mathematics component.
Candidate records must also show strong mathematics, leadership and community service skills.
This isn’t an opportunity for men only, women are therefore strongly encouraged to apply as well.

APPLICATION PROCESS
There would be no need for registration fees from the candidates that will be selected for the Master’s degree program. Provisions would be made for full scholarships covering tuition, accommodation, meals as well as travel expenses which will also be awarded to successful applicants.
