CALL FOR APPLICANTS ENTRIES: 2021 Photography and Social Justice Fellowship

OPEN CALL: 2021 PHOTOGRAPHY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE FELLOWSHIP

ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP
Magnum Foundation’s Photography and Social Justice Program created in partnership with City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism. To support fellows who admired pursuing social equality, challenging injustice, and progressing human rights. This program drive participants to be creative in their projects and become a leader who inspired social movements, difficult questions, impact debate, and cognizance about pressing social issues. Through documenting images to tell stories. As a result of Covid19, the program will be held at a separate location, and meetings will happen in the kindness of a participant’s timezones.

 

BENEFITS

• All the cost of participation is cover by Magnum Foundation including, all educational and other program activities.

• Stipend is granted to fellows to support the production of their project

• Participants will have a new idea, be creative, and engage in critical debates among colleagues.

 

DIVISION OF THE PROGRAM

• Photography and Social Justice conference with Fred Ritchin (April-June)

The participant will attend this seminar and discuss issues based on this course, with three informal meetings in April and May, and meets twice a week in June.

• Workshops (March – June)
Discussion based on photography and activism, multimedia production, curatorial practice, public speaking, digital security, self-care, bookmarking, writing human rights law, research methods, and preparedness

• Mentored Project Production ( March – July)
Fellows covered the proposed body of work, aim to progress social justice in their various districts with current support from Magnum Foundation.

• Mentored Project Production (July–October)
With assistant from a mentor, participants will produce their works, imply distribution strategies, and submit their final works to Magnum Foundation.

 

APPLICANT CRITERIA

• Participants must be a mid-career photography
Or aligned in the discipline of photography.

• Individual(s) of color, women, gender, or individuals who are part of ethnic, racial, or religious minority groups, and others whose authorship is unevenly represented within the area of documentary photography is not excluded.

• Applicants must speak fluent English

• Applicants must be willing to participate in every activity of the program, be ready to part take in critical debates with colleagues, and be open-minded

• Applicants can be artist, documentary photographer, photojournalists, or someone who use photography in change-making either social issues or researches.

 

DEADLINE
Deadline for applications December 1, 2020, at 11:59 pm ET.

NB.
Candidates will receive their status of the application in February 2021

Qualified candidates will be interviewed, and conclusions will be made by the end of February 2021
