Competition!!! Taipei International Design Award (NT$3,800,000 Prize).

Taipei City Government organizes the Taipei International Design Award within the ethos of “Design for Adaptive City”, as an on-going gesture to the planet , particularly to those with a passion for creativeness and style , a gesture in projecting the urban branding imagery of “Design Taipei; Dream Taipei”. Here is an open involve outstanding international designs and an attempt to shape Taipei into a convergence platform for creative designs, thereby to get creative designs with business potential, and further still, to encourage practices of social design in an advocacy that style as a medium can bring humans a far better , more pleasant and convenient life.

Taipei City Government has been dedicated to shaping Taipei into a city with design visions and has been encouraging designers to ascertain design as a problem-solving tool, that is, to contemplate on the meaning of design, to unravel problems inevitably faced by the overall public and society, and to market a sustainable city, further presenting Taipei International Design Award within the ethos of “Design for Adaptive City.”

Note: The competition was referred to as Taipei Industrial Design Award between 2008 and 2011, re-named in 2012 as Taipei International Design Award, and has been so called since.

QUALIFICATIONS：

Everyone round the world are welcomed to participate individually or as a gaggle (each group is restricted to 5 members) with one member as main correspondent.Entries must be original creations of the contestants completed after May 10, 2019.

 

CATEGORIES.

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN：

Industrial design refers to style works which will be mass-produced, including general and digital application, Transportation tools, equipment and instruments, daily utilities and household goods, IT and residential appliances, etc.

VISUAL COMMUNICATION DESIGN：

Visual communication includes designs of digital graphic creations, identity, posters, packaging and printing.

 

PUBLIC SPACE DESIGN：

Open space provided for public use, government buildings, and personal establishments that are partially provided for public use.

Registration：All registration must be performed online.

SELECTION PROCESS:

PRINCIPLE FOR JUDGE PANEL

The organizer should invite local and international experts as judge panel. The judge panel for every category will contains experts who come from quite two different continents and nationalities.The organizer reserves the proper to vary the members of the judge panel if members are unable to participate within the selection process thanks to illness or unforeseeable circumstances.

 

METHOD OF SELECTION

Inspection of Qualifications: the small print of entries, including qualifications, documents, and formats, are inspected.

Preliminary Selection: The preliminary selection are going to be conducted by submission of digital files via a web system. Qualified entries in each category are going to be selected as finalists.

Final Selection: the ultimate selection are going to be supported the particular physical works, mockups, animations or printouts that meet required specifications.

Description of Special Awards

Taipei City Mayor Award: because the biggest prize during this event, this is often presented to the work that targets Taipei City for its design service and submits — from the perspectives of urban developments, lifetime of city residents, and public services — the creative design proposal with the foremost impact on users and on urban sustainability.

Note: This Award following the above definition are going to be selected out of all works of the finalists. Advanced Application Award: this is often presented to the work that has been mass-produced and is in a position to interrupt the established order , make use of latest materials, simplify production procedures, advanced applications to make its commercial value and further improve life quality. Social Innovation Award: this is often presented to the work designed under the premise of making public interests and applying design thinking, given limited resources, to shed light on social issues pending urgent improvement, with innovation design approaches at the core to style the work with creativity and practical value, and to unravel problems inevitably confronting the people, society or city, while exercising the impact of design.

Circular Design Award: this is often presented to the work that introduces new technology and new ideas into product manufacturing, use and disposal so as to offer new life to the merchandise and improve the efficiency of varied resources.
