OVERVIEW
The yearly award, which started in 2007, was organized and presented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Japan and Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS). Its objective is to spur the motivation among young researchers supporting research and development in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and other industries in developing regions, that is promoted by Japan for the benefit of those countries. Not less than three young researchers who have shown competent performance in research and development in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, or other industries for a developing region, and who made great promise remarkable achievements in research and development that will result in future technological innovation in agriculture, forestry, fisheries or other related industries for a developing area, and who show great promise will be invited to Japan to attend the recommendation ceremony and accept their awards and cash gifts (US$5,000 will be given per awardee).

ELIGIBILITY:
The following are the requirements for being a member;
(i)The researchers should be someone who has the nationality of a developing country and territory that is for them a non-Japanese research institute or a non-Japanese university.
(ii) he/she Should be under the age of 40 (as of January 1, 2021)
(iii). The researcher must engage in research and development in agriculture, forestry, fisheries and other relevant industries in developing regions, which include the food industry sector and the field of environment.
(iv). The researcher must be able to attend the recommendation ceremony in Japan, 2021.

The method of holding the recommendation ceremony will be concluded after considering the  coronavirus infection status.
