*OVERVIEW*
The Afya Bora Fellowship program is accepting applicants for the year 2021, which will commence on the 4th of January,2021.
ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES
Those who are eligible to apply for this fellowship must meet one of the following criteria;
• Medical Applicants: Medical applicants must have obtained a Master’s degree in nursing, a Ph.D. degree in public health, or a substantial amount of work experience.
• OTHER PUBLIC HEALTH PROFESSIONALS:
Public health professionals who do not have a clinical degree must have a Doctoral degree in public health or other related fields.
•Applicants from Botswana, Cameroun, Kenya, Tanzania, or Uganda who are either citizens or permanent residents in the countries aforementioned is also eligible to apply.
*BENEFITS*
The fellowship aims to provide applicants the following
•Training opportunities to prepare them for leadership positions in governmental and non-governmental institutions, as well as academic health institutions in developing countries.
A nine-month training, ABF2021 would be in two sections;
• -Section 1, Distance learning modules: this section entails modules that would be used by the applicants.
• -Section 2, Mentored project-based assignment: In this section, applicants will carry out a project in an academic, local government, or non-governmental health organizations within partner African countries.
*APPLICATION DEADLINE*
Applications are open from August 2020 to the 9th of October 2020, after which interviews conducted will for selected applicants from October 2020 to November 2020.
ABF will reach back to accepted and waitlisted applicants in December 2020.
