Terra Summer Residency Fellowships in Giverny, France.
Ever since its breaking ground in 2001, the Terra Summer Residency is a programme that works to bring together doctoral scholars of The American art and emerging artists from every works of life for a nine-week residential program which will help develop their skills in Giverny, France.

The programme seeks to boost confidence in independent work likewise providing seminars and mentoring by senior scholars and artists to foster reflection and debate. The Terra Summer Residency serves as an avenue for participants to widen their academic and creative horizons in ways that would help them develop further in their various fields of work.
In addition to stipend, fellows receive some benefits for application such as; on-site lodging, unlimited and unrestricted use of working facilities, and lunches for participants for the duration of the residency. In accordance to the Global sanitary conditions and safe travel permitting, the 2021 Terra Summer Residency will be held from June 7, 2021 until August 6 2021. We seek applications from scholars only for the 2021 residency. The artist residency positions for 2021 have all been taken (2020 selected artists were asked to postpone their residencies until 2021).

Eligibility & Application Information.
1. Applications can only be accepted after being submitted online, we are accepting applications for scholars only for the 2021 residency.
2. Candidates worldwide can apply, nationality or race is not a barrier.
3. A doctoral candidate researching American art and visual culture so also its role in a context of international artistic exchange prior to 1980. Candidates who are already at the dissertation-writing stage are encouraged to apply.
4. A visual artist with a master’s degree or its equivalent at the time of application. Applicants who have completed their degree within the past five years are likely to receive more favour here.
5. Applicants must be recommended by their dissertation advisor or professor or previous art-school supervisor on accounts of credibility and trustworthiness. Each professor is only to recommend of two candidates max each year. (Please see the application form for more details on full nomination and application procedures.)
Applicants for the Terra Summer Residency will be evaluated by an independent jury and applications are likely to be judged and considered on the basis of intellectual and creative excellence, scholastic and academic accomplishments, and also their ability to contribute in a collegial and interdisciplinary community.
As the program’s working language is English, all applicants are required to be fluent in the language, knowledge of French is an asset but not required.

Program funding.
Terra Summer Residency fellows receive:
1. A $5,000 stipend (artists receive an additional $300 for the purchase of materials);
2. A travel contribution ($500 for individuals traveling in from Europe, $1,200 for individuals traveling from the US and Canada, and up to $1,500 for individuals traveling from other destinations);
Accommodation and hospitality.
Due to the nature and format of the program, the residency does not accommodate family members of applicants.
