Women Building Peace Award recognizes women who have been tools for fighting conflicts in societies and building peace. USIP awards women who are peacebuilders, courageous, leaders and committed to peacemaking, and also stand out as beacons of strength and hope like Rita M. Lopidia of South Sudan, the receiver of the women Building Peace Award 2020. The award is set to acknowledge the role played by women who contributed and develop peace in their communities, region, or country. The nomination of the award is for women who have not being recognized for the vigorous work in peacemaking.

Benefits
– The winner will be rewarded $10,000 for her own decisions
– Recognition for the winner at the inaugural event organized in Washington, D.C by the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP)

Eligibility Requirements

– U.S. citizens are not eligible to apply
– The applicant must be 18 years of age or above not below
– Must be a peacebuilder or peacemaking
– Must not have any contact with USIP during the nomination

Criteria

– Self-nomination is not eligible
– Must possess these qualities
– must have a commitment to peace
– must be Exceptional Leader
– must be Outstanding Practitioner
– must be Substantial Impact

Nomination Process

– Applicants should be nominated by the individual
– Nominators are expected to submit their nomination applications through the FLUXX online portal
– Nominators are to register an account on the FLUXX portal by 2:00 pm ET Wednesday, January 13, 2021, to submit nomination applications, the registration is not meant for nominators
– Nominated applicants should be alerted, nomination application has been submitted on their behalf
– Applicants are expected to participate in a social media campaign, public ceremony, and media engagements.
– Nominators are to register an account on the FLUXX portal by 2:00 pm ET Wednesday, January 13, 2021, to submit nomination applications, the registration is not meant for nominators

Timeline

– Registration starts On Tuesday, December 1, 2020
– And closed by 2:00 pm ET on Tuesday, February 2, 2021.
– Winner will be announced in summer 2021, and the winner be awarded by the fall of 2021
